Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Taie is the founding director and currently the executive director of Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). He holds B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., ACGI, DIC, and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
Prior to his formative work with QNRF, Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Taie held a number of key positions in Iraq with the Ministry of Oil, the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and was a key player in a number of strategic projects, research and technology transfer management, and science and technology initiatives. He was one of the notable leaders of the reconstruction campaigns of the oil refineries, electric power stations, and other industrial plants destroyed during the first Gulf War in 1991.
Dr. Al-Taie has received numerous awards, commendations, and decorations in his career, including the Jabir Bin Hayyan Medal, the Reconstruction Medal, and the prestigious Science Medal of the Republic of Iraq. He published more than 40 articles and technical reports.
