Our homegrown research university Hamad Bin Khalifa University hosts three research institutes that are developing programs and platforms at the intersection of industry and academia.
Our three specialized research institutes—operating under the umbrella of our homegrown Hamad Bin Khalifa University—are each focused on conducting pioneering research in areas of national priority for Qatar, supporting sustainable development and economic diversification goals, while having the potential to benefit the world.
Here at QCRI, we are developing cutting-edge research but rather than just chasing "tech trends" we are also solving real problems relevant to Qatar and the rest of the world.
Positioned at the intersection of academia and industry, our research institutes—through multidisciplinary research programs and initiatives—are producing solutions that address Qatar’s challenges and meet market needs, with their efforts being guided by Qatar Foundation’s Research, Development, and Innovation division to maximize their national relevance, synergy, and impact.
At Qatar Foundation, we try to make sure our research projects span a wide range of industries and themes to ensure we can create meaningful, multisectoral difference on the challenges we all face.
Here are just some of our projects doing exactly that.
Promoting the Arabic language in the information age is a priority area of QCRI’s research. Some of our current research projects address the challenges related to lack of content and extracting that content, analyzing, and transforming it.
QCRI’s Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Response (AIDR) technology uses both textual and visual social media content to help humanitarian decision-makers direct resources to those in need following major humanitarian disasters.
The QEERI Solar Consortium is a membership-based program for research, testing, and demonstration of groundbreaking solar-energy technologies. It brings together major stakeholders and and local authorities from the solar energy field, to shape a common focus on practical tests of solar-based devices and systems within Qatar’s desert environment.
We’re proud of the diverse and international community we’ve been able to grow and foster here in Qatar.
There’s always something to do when you’re in Education City.
