Dr. Hussein M. Alnuweiri is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Texas A&M at Qatar. He conducts research in mobile Internet computing, cloud/edge computing, Internet-of-Things security, and digital twin systems.
Dr. Alnuweiri joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program at Texas A&M at Qatar in August 2007. Before joining the TAMUQ faculty, Dr. Alnuweiri was a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Alnuweiri has a long record of industrial collaborations with several major companies in North America, including Qualcomm, Sierra Wireless, Cisco, and Texas Instruments. He served as a Canadian delegate to the ISO, where he worked on MPEG4 and H.264 video streaming standards.
Dr. Alnuweiri has been author or co-author of more than 200 refereed journal and conference papers in various areas of computer and communications research. Dr. Alnuweiri is also an inventor, and holds four U.S. patents.
Dr. Alnuweiri received his M.S.E.E. from King Fahad University, Saudi Arabia, in 1984, and his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, USA, in 1989.
