John T. McEntire

John came to QF as a founding member of the office’s formal setup in 2013. Leading the team of IP and commercialization experts, he focuses on developing functional policies, tools, and resources to enhance QF’s innovation ecosystem by protecting, marketing, and licensing QF IP around the globe. He is also commercialization manager for certain technologies and leads startup license negotiations.

  • Copyright, Software, and Trademark Officer at the University of Illinois for over 12 years
  • Directed Pacific Rim division for a computer software and hardware distributor
  • Consultant in Tokyo, Japan, representing U.S. business interests throughout Asia for five years
  • Consultant to governments of Japan, Singapore, and China on technology transfer
  • Founder, consultant, employee, and advisor in multiple startups

    Education and Certifications:
  • Executive Master’s in business administration (international focus) from the University of Illinois
  • Bachelor’s in Japanese (Asian Studies minor) from Brigham Young University
  • Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) and Certified Patent Valuation Analyst (CPVA)
